Child Development Center

The 325th Force Support Squadron at Tyndall AFB offers parents a variety of alternatives for quality child care. From structured supervision in a school-like atmosphere to the intimate setting of a private home, child care at Tyndall lets all parents make the best choice for the whole family.

Child Development Center

The CDC welcomes children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years. The CDC curriculum is developmentally appropriate, multi-cultural, play centered, and focused on the different needs/interests of each child. The program is accredited by National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The CDC is a USDA certified center, providing breakfast, lunch, and two snacks each day.

Full Day Program

This Monday-Friday program allows up to 10 hours of care per day/5 days a week.

Hourly Care Program

This service is for parents whose child care needs are not regular. Reservations can be made up to 1 month in advance. "Walk-In" care is available only as space and staff permit.

Slot Share Program

In this arrangement, two children attend the CDC during alternating hours with parents sharing an appropriate percentage of the cost. The CDC can help coordinate the families whose schedules are compatible.

Give Parents A Break Program

Funded by the Air Force Aid Society, this service allows for free child care to military parents of all ranks who have special needs/hardships such as a remote spouse or recent PCS. Offered once each month; a referral is necessary to take advantage of this program. All of the above programs require a completed registration packet which can be picked up at the CDC.

Family Child Care

For parents who prefer a home environment, Family Child Care (FCC) is the answer. The FCC program assures parents that Care is developmentally appropriate for each age level. FCC is available for infants as young as 2 weeks.

  • Providers are licensed. Providers must advance through at least three levels of accreditation to remain caregivers at Tyndall AFB.
  • Background checks and inspections have been performed by base agencies to establish a physically and emotionally safe child care environment.
  • Providers continue to improve their professional skills through monthly and yearly training workshops.

Hours and compensation are negotiated between providers and parents. For a current listing of providers, their hours and the age groups accepted for care, contact the FCC coordinator at (850) 283-2266. A listing of providers is also available at the Family Support Center, Pediatrics Clinic, Child Development Center, and Youth Center.

Extended Duty Child Care

This special child care program is designed to assist parents whose work schedules temporarily require child care beyond the hours of the CDC and school-age program. This additional care is provided in a specifically contracted licensed FCC home. Arrangements must be coordinated with the CDC and the FCC. The FCC coordinator can provide detailed information about this service.

Child Care for PCS

Up to 20 hours of child care per child is available to assist families during the relocation process. This program is open to all ranks and is offered through the Air Force Aid Society. Care is arranged in a licensed FCC home. Contact the Family Support Center at (850) 283-4204 for more information.

All Tyndall Child Care Programs are certified through the Department of Defense.
